West Brom - Transfer Update

It has been heating up this week as the Baggies seek to make the signings that will ensure that they secure their Premiership future for the beginning of the 2011/12 season.

Things have been slow so far this transfer window for Albion with only Ibanez and Myhill brand new to the club, (Reid and Tamas had been on loan last season). However, all of that is about to change with the signing of Nicky Shorey to be announced on Monday and also the signing of Somen Tchoyi that should be completed before the end of the week.

Other players to appear on the radar in the last week have been AZ Alkmaar's Moussa Dembele although this appears unlikely, Marc Wilson from Portsmouth, also unlikely unless Pompey drop their 5m asking price and Craig Dawson the promising young Rochdale centre half who is keen on a move to West Brom but whose side are trying to get the highest price at auction.

The Albion faithful will insist that a new striker is brought into the club sooner rather than later as none of the forwards on the books appear able to play as a lone striker or to provide the goals that will cement the club's place in the Premier League. Possible targets mooted have been Jason Roberts, James Beattie and David N'Gog, however, those names are perhaps not the standard of forward that the fans will be pleased to see playing in blue and white stripes at the Hawthorns this season.
