Unbelievable. That's the only word to describe yesterday's game. Stoke City came they sat back didn't have a shot and then they were awarded a penalty 55 minutes in and that was it game over really. The penalty that decided the game came from an obvious dive from the useless all game Kenwyne Jones but Chris Foy bought it. It was a very poor decision and the last thing that the Baggies deserved following 55 minutes of domination when they were the only ones looking to win the game. Another dubious penalty from a shoulder to shoulder challenge in the box and a goal in injury time and that was it the hoo doo continues for one more game.
The Baggies had started brightly with Peter Odemwingie pulling the Stoke defence all over the place. Albion were getting behind Stoke but could not get on the end of any of the crosses going into the box. Stoke were simply not interested in attacking and Jones and Fuller were beaten to the ball time and again by Pablo and Tamas. The first half ended with the Baggies in the ascendancy but needing a little extra to break down Stoke down. Morrison in particular could not get himself into the game and he should have been replaced by Dorrans at half time but a change was only made after Stoke had taken the lead. Tchoyi replaced Barnes and made a nuisance of himself for the rest of the game. Cox replaced Morrison later on and bizarrely Mulumbu was taken off to be replaced by Dorrans.
i Matteo really must get his team selections and substitutions right in future if the Baggies are to stand any chance of remaining in the Premier League.
All in all this was a very disappointing day that saw Stoke come away from the game with an extremely flattering scoreline that was helped in large part by a generous referee. The hoo doo continues but that will make things all the sweeter when the Baggies break it at the Britannia Stadium later in the season.
