We're quite pleased at VitalWBA having predicted the starting line up for today's game, correctly guessed that Jerome Thomas would be a key man (he scored the first goal and set up the fourth) and had a good stab with a 3-1 prediction (it was 4-1).
Indeed this victory sees us return to the top of the League as highest scorers in the Championship, and with 12 goals scored in the last four games at The Hawthorns, sends out a clear signal of our intent.
Bristol City had one of the strongest defensive records going into this match but their seven-match unbeaten streak was under threat from the third minute. A City attack faltered and Graham Dorrans wasted no time in breaking away and playing the ball neatly to Jerome Thomas on the overlap. His clean drive from outside the box screamed past goalkeeper Dean Gerken.
Chris Brunt doubled the lead nine minutes later with another Dorrans assist, his 40-yard looping pass was cleverly controlled by Brunt who then skipped past the prone Gerken for Albion's second.
2-0 at the start of the second half and any hope of a Bristol City revival had vanished within three minutes of the restart.
Firstly, their captain Louis Carey diverted a Simon Cox chip into his own net, and soon after that, Cox made sure that he himself was on the score-sheet by latching onto Thomas's inch perfect cross to score West Brom's fourth.
Paul Hartley managed a memorable free kick consolation goal for Bristol City with seven minutes remaining, and in fact this missed chance of a clean sheet for Albion was the only small negative in an otherwise outstanding display.
