WBA vs. Swansea City

The Hawthorns

WBA v Swansea City

If the Baggies are to chalk up a second successive home win, they will need to overcome one of the tightest defences in the division.

It should also be interesting to see likely starter Craig Beattie back at The Hawthorns trying to impress his new boss.

From the press room:

Even though Swansea are 15 places below us in the Championship, Roberto Di Matteo expects them to raise their game against us tonight.

On the official website he maintained that 'every team will want to beat us, Newcastle and Middlesbrough because we are the three teams that came down from the Premier League. Teams will always raise their game against us and we've had to deal with that from day one.'

I certainly agree with Roberto though that it is better to lead from the front than to be chasing for the title.

WBA Team News:

Chris Wood will be starting in place of the injured Roman Bednar who he replaced early in the Reading game on Saturday.

It is likely that he will up front with Luke Moore in an otherwise unchanged side to the one that beat Reading 3-1.

Player to watch: Jerome Thomas

Let's hope that the Swans have trouble coping with our current on form winger.

Swansea City Team News:

After what can only have been a disappointing draw at Ipswich at the weekend, manager Paulo Sousa brings in Marcos Painter and Cedric van der Gun come for Federico Bessone and Andrea Orlandi.

Player to watch: Craig Beattie

Record signing Craig Beattie will be trying to improve on the 4 goals that he managed for the Albion during his time here.

Match Facts & Stats

In previous meetings it stands at 7 wins each and 6 draws.

Hope you're right Merlin. Just got to keep it simple and be patient against what is an often well organised Swansea side.
