Beattie stakes a claim

Craig Beattie and Josh Knight scored as West Bromwich Albion reserves beat Shrewsbury 2-0 in the Pontins League Division One (central).

Beattie played the full 90 minutes and staked his claim for a return to first team action at Leicester on Saturday by putting the Baggies ahead on 20 minutes.

Josh Knight secured all three points for a young Albion side with a second strike in the 59th minute.

Another Albion youngster, striker Stuart Nicholson, on a season`s loan at the Shrews, featured for the visitors.

ALBION (4-4-2): Daniels; Hurst, Manchester, Martis, Tininho (Lake-Gaskin 46); Nicholls (Nardiello 46), Worrall, Chaplow, Compton; Beattie, Knight (Saied 80). Subs not used: S Morrison, Pike.

SHREWSBURY (4-4-2): Esson; Hooman, Hall, Kempson, Ashton; Humphrey, Jones, Moss, Leslie; Evans (Coulston 36), Nicholson. Subs not used: Pyle, Singh, Davey, Brown.
