Quashie signs on at Albion

Quashie 27, joins Albion for an initial 1.2 million rising to 1.4 million based on performance related bonuses.

Albion had to rush through the players medical at The Valley on Tuesday night after the draw against Charlton.

Baggies boss Bryan Robson has always admired the qualities that Quashie has to his game and he said, 'I always liked Nigel when he played for QPR, Portsmouth and Southampton. He is an intelligent player, has good stamina and is a very good passer of the ball.

'He has got the experience now of relegation fights and playing in The Premiership. I just feel he will improve our squad.

'I just felt we have been a bit short in midfield. Riccardo Scimeca and Lloyd Dyer had gone during January and it is a matter of balancing the squad all the time and just trying to improve as you keep doing that.'

Quashie has signed a contract that will keep him at The Hawthorns until 2009 and is in line to make his debut against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
