Former Sunderland and Aston Villa striker was disappointed that he didn't bag the hat-trick he dreamed of the in Baggies 3-2 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers last Sunday.
Phillips, 33 netted twice in Albion's 3-2 victory at Molineux to take his goal tally to 21 of the 2006/07 season. Diomansy Kamara netted the third as the Baggies won the first leg of the Championship Play-Off Semi-Final.
However the former England international, who netted in Albion's 3-0 FA Cup fourth round victory last January was disappointed not to net a hat-tick - as he was substituted in the 69th minute.
He does though plan to wander his frustration on rivals Wolverhampton when they face each other on Wednesday night in the second leg at the Hawthorns.
'Players tend to have lucky grounds and mine is Molineux,' said Phillips.
'I was disappointed to come off because there was an opportunity for me to get a hat-trick at our arch-rivals. I understand the manager's decision though and will be saving myself for Wednesday night.'
'We are delighted to go into the next game with the lead,' he added. 'We have shown we can be resilient this season and to come back from 2-1 down away from home was excellent.'
