West Brom Fans Not Left Green With Envy
After the last week in particular, West Bromwich Albion fans haven't reacted too kindly to an announcement from the club today.
With relegation concerns, alleged taxi theft, upheaval off the pitch with boardroom changes and everything else fans are keeping a weather eye at this moment in time, the decision by the club to effectively 'cash in' quickly on our green third strip has not gone over well.
Having been worn four times this season the green strip has today gone on sale and it's one of the 'hurry whilst they last' jobs as only 400 have been made available as a collectors item.
'Get your order in fast. With just 400 made available for sale, Baggies fans everywhere will be desperate to pick up this limited edition collector's item. After poppy-embroidered green shirts were auctioned off in November, contributing to a bumper total raised for The Royal British Legion, the Club has decided to make the popular jersey available for all.'
Available in adult sizes small, medium and large for the princely sum of £50, the cynic would say the club are trying to boost the coffers ahead of what increasingly feels like a return to the second tier of English football.
Others certainly made their thoughts known on what has been welcomed as a PR gaff.
Poor judgement by the club bringing these out at this time! Hardly unifying fans! But poor judgement is something the club do seem to excel at - at all levels! #wba— Howard Martin (@HJMKent) February 20, 2018
Worst strip EVER. Do something decent this season and give them away to charity— blackers (@blackers_wba) February 20, 2018
You should give these away after this seasons shambles— Tom Preston (@tommipistols) February 20, 2018
The season is nearly over yet you still want £50 for a shirt?! Rediculous— Ant Lowe (@antlowe) February 20, 2018
That`s a bit rubbish- we`ve had a crap season made to look like a laughing stock can`t get a win can steal a car and you want another 50 quid to buy a shirt to remember this season by???— inderjit singh (@DesiBaggie) February 20, 2018
I've wanted this top from the second I saw it... but to charge £50 for a top weve worn 3 times with 11 games to go in the season is beyond a joke. The very least you could do is put them up for the sale price like the other strips? Constantly taking the piss out of the fans! #wba— Andrew Plant (@_andrewwww) February 20, 2018
People get the general idea don't they.
