Sturridge Will Be An Asset
Former England midfielder Gareth Barry has said that he's confident Liverpool loanee Daniel Sturridge will be an asset for West Bromwich Albion between now and the end of the season.
Speaking to wba.co.uk today as we continue build up to tonight's clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, with one start and one substitute showing to his name so far, Barry said Sturridge had made a good impression on the training ground and he's expecting him to soon be in and amongst the goals for us.
'He`s been really good. He`s really brought a bit of life into the changing room. A big name like Daniel coming in, with what he`s done in his career so far and the amount of goals he scores, to be working with him has been fantastic for everyone.'
Barry went on to say that now he's more in tune with his new side, hopefully we'll start seeing the benefits of that in tonight's clash.
'We`re hopeful he can hit the ground running, starting with one of his old clubs on Monday night, and then get some goals between now and the end of the season. They`re going to be vital for us to get us where we want to be.'
With Barry taking news himself after passing the 650 milestone of appearances in the Premier League, he ended by saying that he's not paying attention to individual accolades as the focus is on improving our own form in the Premier League and getting ourselves out of the relegation zone as we sit in 20th place seven points from safety.
'It was nice to get to that Premier League record because there had been a lot of talk, but the one recently no. It`s all about West Brom and the situation we`re in as a team, so maybe that`s something I can look back on at the end of the season when the job is done.'
