Gabr To Miss Chelsea - Deal In Doubt?
West Bromwich Albion's January signing Ali Gabr is set to miss another game for the club with ongoing work permit issues.
With a good few days to spare ahead of deadline day, the media confirmed capture of the 29 year old Egyptian - West Brom Agree Deal With Gabr - but West Brom are in the position of not announcing it until he's available to play.
With news on that front going quiet, the E&S report that there are delays with his work permit and until that comes through he's kicking his heels.
He's already been unavailable for ties against Manchester City and Southampton, and it isn't expected the paperwork will be complete in time for him to come into contention for Chelsea either.
The player remains in Egypt where the British Embassy in Cairo are processing the documents that we've sent, but there is a small hope that subject to nothing else cropping up, he could be registered in time to potentially debut in our FA Cup tie against Southampton.
Although it's officially unconfirmed from a club point of view, head coach Alan Pardew is already on record as saying.
'He`s a player we had pencilled in to come in this window before I had arrived. I`ve had a good look at him and thought that should go ahead. It`s a really good deal for the club going forward. Between now and the summer I can`t imagine he`ll feature much if everyone stays fit. He needs to bed himself in and understand what we do. If he can be as successful as Ahmed we`ll have got very lucky with his transfer fee.'
