Phillips & Krychowiak Ahead Of Leicester

Phillips & Krychowiak Ahead Of Leicester

Matty Phillips and Grzegorz Krychowiak have both been meeting with the media ahead of tonight's clash with Leicester City.

Phillips has fond memories of a trip to the King Power Stadium, he scored the winning goal in the two one victory back in November 2016 and with it also being his first West Bromwich Albion goal, he's looking for a repeat later tonight.

Speaking to wba.co.uk as he previewed the game, Phillips explained.

'It was my first goal for Albion when I scored at Leicester last season. I hit a bit of form personally and we also went on a good run as a team following that win. That goal was massive for me because goals breed confidence. Hopefully we can do the same again and get back to winning ways.'

With a reasonable record at their ground, Phillips believes we can take confidence from that and look for all three points.

'We are looking forward to the game and we`ll do all our work on the training pitch in the days leading up the match. We know what threats they have and we will try to nullify them. It`s important to try and impose ourselves and our own game on Leicester though. It`s always a tough place to go but we have done well there in the past so we will take plenty of confidence from that.'

As for Krychowiak, he was still seeking further improvement in his own performances as he continues to adjust to life at the club and in the Premier League. Having joined on a season long loan from Paris Saint-Germain, he admitted that it had taken him a while to adjust to our more physical game, but the Poland international admitted he was enjoying it.

'The first game I wasn't good enough physically. I didn't do a pre-season with PSG. I didn't play any friendly games. Now, after five games with Albion and two with Poland, I feel better. But I know I can still do better. The Premier League is different to Spain - you run a lot more! I'm very happy to have the opportunity to discover more about the league. I think we can do something important this season.'

With the October international break now at an end, Krychowiak goes into this game naturally boosted as Poland have secured their qualification through to the Russia World Cup in 2018.

'I'm very happy. It was difficult but the most important thing is that we will be going to the World Cup. It was a long campaign but we proved that we deserve to go to Russia.'
