Pulis Looks To Brighton

Pulis Looks To Brighton

Head coach Tony Pulis has previewed West Bromwich Albion's trip to newly promoted Brighton and the Amex Stadium this weekend.

With the international window now behind us, Pulis' press conference covered a number of topics from Brighton to Jonny Evans and the speculation surrounding Nacer Chadli.

Speaking to wba.co.uk as he met with the media this week ahead of the game, Pulis was definitely pleased with our work in the transfer window - and that wasn't necessarily the case 12 months ago.

'We've brought a few players in. The competition we've got is the best it's been. The disappointing thing is that they've not come into the group as a group - everybody's been spread around with international duty. They've trained together for the first time today. It'll be nice when they have a full week together so they understand what we do and what we're trying to achieve.'

As for Jonny Evans and Manchester City speculation.

'Jonny's had three weeks of non-stop speculation. We've had a look at him in training after he played two games in quick succession for Northern Ireland. But Dawson and Hegazi have done very well in the four games they've played. It was only a mistake that cost us a goal.'

Nacer Chadli had his own speculation as the window drew to a close but Pulis' only concern was getting him fit and firing again.

'What we need to do is start taking more of our chances. Nacer was a very good signing for us last season but got an injury and never really recovered. But even when he wasn't 100% at it he was still capable of creating chances and scoring goals. We need him back fit and fully focused.'

As for Brighton more specifically, he knew it would be a tough game against Chris Hughton's side.

'I've watched Brighton a couple of times and although they've lost games they haven't been far short of winning them. They hit the post a couple of times against Watford and they're a good side. They've got a full compliment of players and they've got players in every position that will make them competitive. We know it'll be a tough game.'
