Rodriguez & Brunt Talk Burnley

Rodriguez & Brunt Talk Burnley

Jay Rodriguez and Chris Brunt have both been reflecting on our tight victory over Burnley at the weekend, and here's what they had to say.

Heading to Turf Moor at the weekend for the game, West Brom made it six points from an available six so far this season as we took a one nil victory courtesy of a Hal Robson-Kanu effort, but of course he saw himself sent of shortly after setting up a tense end to the game.

Speaking to in his own post game press conference, our former Southampton striker Rodriguez felt that few teams would come away from Burnley's home ground with maximum points this year - as he knew how tough the former employers had been to face.

Rodriguez was obviously with Burnley, taking in over 100 appearances for them, before he left for St Mary's Stadium.

'We knew it was going to be difficult and it was a very difficult game. But the lads worked hard and got the three points which is the most important thing. Not many teams will come here and win. They work very hard.'

'Everyone's delighted. Everyone in the team knew their jobs - we worked on that all week. You could see from the game that everyone worked tirelessly. We got our rewards at the end.'

As for Brunt, he was making his 500th career (club) appearance in the game and he was delighted to mark the occasion with all three points and a victory and keep our 100% record going this year.

'We`re delighted, it`s a tough place to come. We didn`t play overly well, we`ve played better and not come away with anything, so to come away with all three points is great. The fact that it came in my 500th game is a bonus.'

Brunt went on to say.

'It`s probably something I won`t look back on until I`m finished playing and I`ll be proud of it then. I suppose not many players get to make 500 so I`m pretty lucky and fortunate to be in the situation that I am - in the Premier League as well - I`m delighted.'
