A Few Missing For Burnley & Pulis Talks Wimmer

A Few Missing For Burnley & Pulis Talks Wimmer

Head coach Tony Pulis has confirmed we will be missing a few players for this weekend's clash against Burnley.

Speaking to wba.co.uk as he met with the media earlier this morning, obviously a huge topic of conversation was the rejected bid by Manchester City for Jonny Evans and Pulis restated the club line that there was no desire to sell the Northern Ireland international.

'The two things are that we don't want to sell him and we don't need to sell him. We're not desperate to get the money in so it would have be a very, very good offer. And then we'd sit down and talk to Jonny about the situation.'

Evans is however still struggling with his hamstring problem and is unlikely to make the game unless he shows significant improvement today, so he joins James Morrison and Gareth McAuley on the sidelines.

'It looks as though Jonny might miss tomorrow. It's his hamstring. One thing we don't want to do is play him and make it worse. James and Gareth won't be available again on Saturday and we'll monitor them as we go along.'

With new signing Gareth Barry coming in from Everton this week, Pulis also spoke about what he'd bring to the club in terms of his character and experience.

'We've been trying to get Gareth for a long time. I'm absolutely delighted to have him in. We're hoping he'll come in and be a character in the dressing room. He's got lots of experience.'

As for the speculation linking us with Tottenham Hotspur's £15million rated Kevin Wimmer, the Birmingham Mail also have Pulis saying.

'No not at all and whoever`s telling you we`re close is miles away from that fact. We have a lot or irons in the fire with a lot of people and we`re hoping to get deals done. But they have to be the right deal for this football club and that goes for whether they`re buying or selling.'
