Trio Reflect On Bournemouth Win

Trio Reflect On Bournemouth Win

Head coach Tony Pulis, Ahmed Hegazi and Jay Rodriguez have been reflecting on our first three points of the new Premier League season.

Opening up the 2017/18 campaign at The Hawthorns with Bournemouth the visitors, West Brom took the one nil victory courtesy of a Hegazi header just after the half hour mark, and despite Bournemouth having the greater possession we had far greater chances and saw the game out.

Speaking to wba.co.uk as Pulis spoke briefly with the media following the game, he was delighted to have started the year with a positive result.

'It's a wonderful result for us. All the work we have done this week has paid off. We had more shots, more crosses and more end product than Bournemouth.'

With over 25,000 in attendance for the game, he added.

'I thought the fans were fantastic today. We gave them a lot to cheer about first half and we've got to make sure we continue to do that.'

With Hegazi giving us the win with his first club goal, he said in his own brief interview.

'It is a very good win and a fantastic feeling. To start well was very important for us.'

The Egyptian was also delighted with the clean sheet.

'The clean sheet is the first thing you think about as a defender. It's very important to the team. The first game is always very important for the team and for the start of the season. We can take enormous confidence from this.'

Fellow summer signing Rodriguez was also speaking after the game, he thanked the fans for getting right behind the team.

'It's always good to try to please the fans and they got behind us. You really feel it as a player and as a team and it's a special thing. Hopefully it continues and we can keep getting the points.'
