Pulis Targets Everton Midfielder?

Pulis Targets Everton Midfielder?

It was being reported on Sunday that West Bromwich Albion head coach Tony Pulis was now targeting Everton's Gareth Barry as Darren Fletcher's replacement.

With former skipper Fletcher leaving for Stoke City a few weeks ago, Pulis was obviously gutted to lose the experienced midfielder, and the Mirror reported on Saturday evening that Barry was now a top target to replace him.

With Fletcher leaving a hole in midfield given his experience, fairly well travelled Barry at 36 years old is a good candidate to replace him given his own experience, and of course his leadership qualities.

The report states that Burnley and Sean Dyche are also interested in the former England man and Dyche actually wanted to use their interest in Michael Keane to further that deal, but the Keane deal moved extremely quickly and ruled out a cash plus Barry deal, but he remains interested in a standalone agreement.

With Everton spending heavily so far this year, Barry is in Ronald Koeman's plans but he's also believed to be open to considering offers to help balance the books, especially with the Goodison Park outfit having a number of midfield options available to them.

Whether or not this idle speculation though remains to be seen but with Pulis trying to lower our general age, whilst Barry would fly in the face of that, he still has plenty to offer at the top level.

However with speculation linking us with Fabian Delph the possibility of signing both of them, you would think it's one or the other given relative playing styles.
