Pulis Delighted With Rodriguez Capture

Head coach Tony Pulis has said that he feels former Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez will be a perfect fit for West Bromwich Albion.

Having come in for a reported £12million - rising to £15million - deal the other day, Pulis has finally got his man after two failed attempts previously to rbing him in and the 27 year old has become our first signing of the summer.

Speaking to wba.co.uk to talk about the striker, Pulis explained.

'We've chased him for a long time and I'm really pleased we have got him in. He's got a good goal-scoring record and we've been a little bit short in that position and hopefully this will give us a little bit more in those areas. He gives us different options and that's important for a club such as our's - Jay can play in three different positions across the front and that's good for us. He was exceptional for Southampton out wide and coming in off the line. He also plays as a striker - he's got these different qualities to play anywhere along the front line.'

Speaking more himself following his move, Rodriguez was clearly looking for more game time.

'I want to be on the pitch, helping the team and wherever that may be I'm happy to do it. As long as I'm working hard and improving on each game. I want to score goals and create chances and help the team in that way. As a player, you know it's a short career and you want to maximise every game you play. You want to be the player you can become. Albion fans will see a player who gives it everything, whether in training or games, trying to maximise everything I can do.'
