'If It's Football, It's Vital'

No go for Earnie

Baggies boss Robson said, 'Earnie has handed in a transfer request and I've turned it down.'

Robson turned down the request as Albion can ill afford to lose Earnie. Albion will be without Kanu and Diomansy Kamara in January due to the African Cup of Nations. Selling Earnie would leave the club short of attacking options.

When the New Year arrives Albion will be left with Nathan Ellington, Kevin Campbell, Geoff Horsfield and Earnie.

When questioned why he had turned down the request, Robson said, 'He is part of my plans. All of my strikers have an important role to play this season.'

A number of clubs are sure to test Albion's resolve in January, but Robson will resist any offer for the Welsh International as he is an important part of his plans.
