Mowbray On Derby Defeat

Tony Mowbray watched his West Brom side dominate the game against Derby yesterday and still lose, but he insists there is no need to panic just yet.

Things looked well for the Baggies when Richard Chaplow put them into a 26th minute lead against the Rams, by the way they were playing it looked like a case of how many would they score.

But chances were wasted, not least Nathan Ellington who missed an open goal at the offset of the second half and that should have wrapped up the game.

But back came Derby and they equalised through Oakley when he lashed an unstoppable shot into the top corner and then three minutes later Barnes headed the home side in front.

Mowbray said after the game: 'Perhaps we were a bit naive at times and wasteful in front of goal but there are another 30 games to go and there's no need to be concerned.

'We have got a very disappointed dressing room because the players know they didn't get what they deserved.

'I wouldn't knock the strikers, we were creating a lot of chances and if they all went in it could have been an embarrassing scoreline.

'Things need tinkering with a little bit but I'm only three weeks into the job and the signs are positive'.
