Forest 1-0 Albion

Forest 1-0 Albion

West Bromwich Albion narrowly lost our pre season friendly against Nottingham Forest.

A 25 minute goal for the proved to be enough to separate both teams at the full time whistle, and bring our unbeaten pre season run so far to an end.

The first half was pretty much a non starter, but Albion certainly improved after the break and by rights we should've drawn level with chances created by Graham Dorrans, Craig Gardner and Kemar Roofe but their keeper was equal to all of them.

In terms of positives, four of our six summer signings got a run out and both Joleon Lescott and Chris Brunt got time on the pitch as they made their comebacks from earlier injuries, although Lescott did only get 35 minutes in the game after feeling some pain in his knee, so he was removed as a precaution at that point.

Fellow new signing Sebastien Pocognoli was also substituted shortly before full time after being flattened in a strong challenge, as they didn't want to overly take a risk given he was already nursing a a minor hip and groin niggle.

Speaking to wba.co.uk following the game, head coach Alan Irvine spoke about the substitutions and explaiend.

'I've just spoken to Joleon and he feels okay. He just felt something on the outside of his knee. He felt it when he was warming up and when he cleared from the corner, he felt it go but he says it has settled down now.'

As for Pocognoli, he added.

'He had been complaining in the first half about being a bit tight in his groin and hips. We did a bit of work on him at half time and then, of course, he got clattered. At that point, I just thought 'take him off!''

The gaffer was also pleased to get almost 20 minutes under the belt of Chris Brunt as he knows that will really help bring on his own fitness now.
