Mel Leaves By Mutual Consent

Mel Leaves By Mutual Consent

Here we are again, we are on the search for a new gaffer as Pepe Mel has today parted company with Albion.

Following talks his contract has been cancelled by mutual consent, and the full statement can be read on wba.co.uk.

Mel was appointed in January after we parted company with former head coach Steve Clarke, and in total he took charge of 17 Premiership games for us, winning three, drawing six and losing eight.

Sporting and Technical Director Richard Garlick explained.

'We would like to thank Pepe for his efforts over the past four months in helping to keep the club in the Premier League and wish him well for the future. Both Pepe and the club set out with the best intentions of making the appointment work. However, having reflected on events both on and off the field during our talks today, it became apparent that it was in the best interests of both parties for there to be an amicable parting.'

David Gomez now also leaves Albion following the expiry of his coaching contract with us, and Keith Downing and Dean Kiely remain in their current roles.
