Clarke's Forward Planning
Steve Clarke has talked about his inclusion of U18s in our match day squads, saying it's important younger players get the encouragement to keep working hard.
Speaking to wba.co.uk about his inclusion of Callum Jones for the trip to Stoke, Clarke explained.
'It's just experience. Callum came up with us, he's trained with the first team. Every day he trained he was in the group. He handled himself well but it was a chance to give him some experience. It's important you give your academy encouragement. If you just close the door on them it can seem a long way for an U18s player. You need to show them the step isn't that big provided they continue to work and apply themselves.'
Jones follows in the footsteps of Adil Nabi and Isaiah Brown in being given a taste of what could be theirs if they knuckle down and keep working hard.
