Downing Hails Yacob's Return

Keith Downing has said that Claudio Yacob has proven himself invaluable since his return to action.

Speaking to wba.co.uk the assistant coach described Claudio as a 'player's player' and said his return to the side had been key in our recent upturn in results.

'The players around him appreciate the role he does. In the modern game, which features less tackles and robust stuff, there is an art to defending in terms of interceptions, reading the game and delaying attacks. Claudio's got all that, and he's very good at it.'

Talking specifically about the return of Yacob and Mulumbu to the middle of the park, he added.

'It was a partnership that was good and since both of them have been back playing, we have managed to pick up some positive results.'

As for the 25 year olds acclimatisation to the country, Downing added that he was continuing weekly with English lessons and his grasp of the language was coming along nicely now, althoug he did joke.

'He understands the positives, but doesn't always understand the criticisms!'
