Thorne Blow & Pre Spurs News

Youngster George Thorne has been ruled out for 6-8 months after it was confirmed he had ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in the game against Everton.

Speaking to wba.co.uk Steve Clarke explained that it was the same injury that Zoltan Gera had suffered, and with Gera's experience of lengthy lay offs at least he'll be able to help keep George's spirits high during his time out.

Thorne will undergo an operation shortly to repair his ligament, before starting the road back to recovery.

'This is really sad news - both for George personally and for the club as a whole. George is a talented young midfielder who has underlined his potential by doing really well for us in recent weeks. To lose two players in quick succession to such long term injuries is really tough to take.'

In other team news ahead of the Spurs game tomorrow.

Peter Odemwingie will be missing, as I'll cover in a minute.

Youssouf Mulumbu is a doubt but Clarke has not yet ruled him out, as he has returned from the African Cup of Nations with a knee injury. Steven Reid has continued his training and is in contention for selection.
