'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Clarke Won't Rush Long & Yacob

Steve Clarke has said he would've loved to have started Shane Long and Claudio Yacob against Everton, but he doesn't want to rush them.

Speaking to wba.co.uk Clarke explained.

'We scored almost immediately after Shane came on. That's what he does. It was good for us that we got him back on the pitch last night. He's been out for a number of weeks and hasn't trained very much with the team. I'd love to have started him but sometimes you have to protect the player for the long term. But in the half hour he was on, he looked lively. Claudio also got a bit more time on the pitch. Second half, he grew into the game and looked more like his old self. It's great to get them out of the treatment room, but it doesn't mean they're ready firing to play matches.'

Big boost to have them both back, and hopefully over the coming games real match sharpness will return and we can change our fortunes again.
