Club Reject Odemwingie Request

West Bromwich Albion have today rejected a transfer request from striker Peter Odemwingie.

A statement from the Club and our new Sporting and Technical Director (designate) Richard Garlick read.

'Peter is hugely popular with our supporters and it's disappointing he has decided to hand in a transfer request. It was immediately turned down and has done nothing to change our stance during January. Peter is under contract until the summer of 2014 and we have no need or desire to sell our core players.'

Disappointing move from the player when you consider the interest is QPR and Albion are still in with a chance of a top 8 finish, and possibly a top 6 run.

When a player makes such a curious move, it's got to be about money, you see. Lets hope player power doesn't come into play here. Odemwingwe is 31 and should be seeking a last big pay day seeing as he wasn't even called up for the Nigerian side to the African Nations' cup.

As a QPR fan, I'd be happy with this deal. Judging by Odemwingie's comments, he wants to work with Redknapp. I'm not particularly delighted with the way he's making the move for himself and rather flies in the face of a contract that he has with his current club. If he keeps us up it will be worth it from our perspective.
