'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Clarke Discusses Dorrans Possible Departure

Steve Clarke has confirmed that following discussions Graham Dorrans is free to leave as long as a club meet our valuation.

Speaking to wba.co.uk Clarke said of the earlier speculation.

'Graham came to see me, he said that, not just because of what's happened this season, but in previous seasons, he feels as if he needs a fresh challenge. We had an amicable discussion and came to the agreement that if something came along in January that was good for the club and Graham, we would listen to the possibility that Graham could leave.'

Interestingly, Clarke also added.

'Should that happen, I've got a replacement - I brought George Thorne back.'

Big confidence boost for George, and does tend to imply that there may be a deal or two already in the offing for Dorrans.

Dealing with other speculation surrounding Peter Odemwingie and Jonas Olsson especially, who it has been suggested has a buy out clause in his new contract, Clarke said confidently.

'It's complete speculation about Jonas and there is no reason why I'd lose him this month. January is the silly season. We can hang onto every player under contract, we don't need to sell. It's not unsettling for me in any way because I know come February 1 the players I need to be here will be here.'

It's certainly true, with our place in the league that would already put a number of suitors off who might be tempted to bid and the league position itself is a huge bargaining chip should we even wish to entertain some silly bids.
