Ahead of our trip to Wigan, I had a little chat with Worbo from Vital Wigan.
1) Is the season going as you expected and what has been the highlight and lowlight so far?
I thought we`d be pushing for mid-table and that`s exactly what we are doing at the moment, our last two league games, West Ham & Spurs, have brought two good wins, but more importantly two excellent performances, we look back to the way we finished last season, playing really good football, I`m really looking forward to the next few weeks.
The low so far would have to be the performance at Manchester United a few weeks back, we gifted them goals and got tonked as a consequence, but that`s out of the system now...hopefully.
2) Are you pleased with the transfer dealings of the club?
Quite pleased, the two main players brought in are very good, Ivan Ramis, a defender from Mallorca and Arouna Kone, striker and class act from Levante, I do feel we needed a quality wide man though following the departure of Moses, but we`re doing well enough without one.
3) Where do you see your current weaknesses this season? Any clues for the game will be greatly appreciated :-)
If you`d have asked a couple of weeks back I`d have said sloppy balls around the back, I know, it sounds as carry on as it was, it's well documented that we knock the ball around our back three and when under pressure it could all go a little wrong, ala Man U, but we`ve settled now and the performances have been getting better every week with crisp passing.
4) Who will be your key dangerman?
We work as units so the danger will definitely come from the front three, Maloney, Kone and Di Santo, they are on fire at the moment, they interchange positions frequently through the game and are a joy to watch, keep a special eye on Shaun Maloney, he`s something special.
5) Who is your star signing of the summer?
Both Kone and Ramis have been fantastic so far, Ramis is a big tough central defender who can score the odd spectacular goal, he really has been class, but if pushed to pick just one then I`d say Kone, strikers can be hit and miss, even the best, this guy is real quality, his all round game is superb and he`s settled in really quickly to form a great forward team with Maloney and Di Santo, he is powerful, fast, direct and has great vision to create chances for others. Top, top player.
6) Where do you see Albion finishing this season?
If your season continues to unfold the way it`s started then I think you`ll be in for an exciting time, possibly around 8th or 9th, but we all know that consistency is the problem with all sides in the Premier League, I can see a solid mid table finish for you though with no problems.
7) What do you think of the appointment of Steve Clarke to what is his first management job?
I always thought of Steve Clarke as an excellent coach, his reputation went before him, but making the step from coach to boss can often be a massive one and people have really struggled to make the transition, but fair play to your board for taking the gamble it has really paid off and you must be over the moon with how he`s started.
8) If you could take one of our players, who would it be and why?
Romelu Lukaku, Kone will be off to the ACN in January and this will leave us short up front, so can we have him please?
9) Who do you see as our main threat?
Chris Brunt and Peter Odemwingie always look quality when I see them play, so I`d have to pick these two as the ones I am most feared about.
10) What weaknesses in our team do you think you'll be looking to exploit?
I`m positive Steve Clarke has got you well disciplined, but we do counter attack at pace, this is the area that we will surprise you...I think, having said that, we never score from corner, but the past two games as seen us do just that!
11) Finally, a prediction please fellow football fan...
It`ll be a really tough game, but we`re at home and in fine form so I`ve got to go for a 2-0 Latics win.
With thanks to Worbo!
