Brunt Back For Southampton?

Chris Brunt has said he is focusing on the Southampton game for his return.

Speaking to wba.co.uk after making a return in yesterday's U21 game, Brunt has said he's hopeful of winning his place back for Monday's encounter.

'Yesterday was what I needed. It's been a while and it's been pretty stop start this season altogether, so it was nice to get back out onto the pitch.'

Brunt added that his return was managed by the medical staff and he feels like he could've done more than 60 minutes, but that was the limit they set for him.

'Everything is fine with the hamstring, it was always going to be okay, but sixty minutes was doctor's orders. I probably could've done a little bit more but the Doc said 'no'. The last couple of times I've come back and broken down so it's important not to rush back this time.'

Brunt was also joined by a few others in the U21 game who are building back up their fitness following injury.

'Hopefully I'll be fit enough to face Southampton, it's down to the gaffer and what he thinks from this week's training. Billy and Jerome got minutes as well so hopefully we'll be more or less back to full strength for Southampton.'
