McAuley's The Best Partner Ever

McAuley's The Best Partner Ever

Jonas Olsson has said that Gareth McAuley played a big part in his decision to sign a new contract.

Speaking to wba.co.uk Olsson said that he had a fantastic connection with the Northern Irishman and that he was also the best centre half he had played alongside in his Albion career.

'I finally feel I've been able to get a good partnership at centre half. I very much enjoy playing with Gareth and I hope our relationship can be a long one. One of the reasons I have re-signed is that I really love playing with him. He's a good guy as well and that makes it easier to connect on the pitch.'

They've certainly clicked this season and McAuley was considered quite a punt given his age when Roy signed him, but he's hardly looked back and definitely taken the chance with both hands.

Olsson also again talked about the growth of the club making it easy for him to commit.

'I really feel the club has been managed in the very best way. We've been keeping the squad intact over the last few years, we've had a chance to connect as a group. I'm really happy to be part of that and I always come into training with a smile on my face, it's vital you are happy in that way.'
