Clarke Delighted With El Ghanassy

Steve Clarke said he was delighted with Yassine El Ghanassy's performance against Walsall, but insists there's much more to come from him as he learns more.

Speaking to wba.co.uk following the game, Clarke said what the fans saw of the 20 year old was only a fraction of what the club believe he's capable of.

'He was involved in all the goals, scored one and made two, which is a good contribution. Like I said when I brought him in, he's a young player and has a lot to learn, we'll keep his feet on the ground and he'll keep working on it. But you can see he's got some key assets and he can look quite exciting on the pitch. What we saw last night excited the supporters a little bit and it's good for the boy as well that he gets a bit of confidence.'

As for the Walsall game itself, he commented.

'It was a good game for us. We had to work hard. I asked them to show me something that excited me and they did that.'

It was a good chance for more fringe elements of the squad to get out there and impress Clarke, and it seems they did that, so he'll have a much better idea of our depth now and where we are, especially with Chris Wood and Craig Dawson returning from the Olympics as both of them will want to be involved more this campaign.
