Clarke Plans On Keeping Strike Pair

Steve Clarke has said that both Peter Odemwingie and Shane Long figure in his plans, and he has no intention of letting either leave this summer.

Speaking to Talksport Clarke said he believed he could get the best out of both players, and would be able to convince Odemwingie that his future is at The Hawthorns.

'He's a top player, a Nigerian international, he scored goals in the Premier League consistently and I'm really looking forward to working with him. I have spoken briefly to most of the players and I spoke to Shane. Unfortunately he's not had a chance to really play in the Euros, but in a way that might be a good thing. It's quite an appealing prospect and both of them have proved that they are natural goalscorers, it's a big plus.'

I'm sure Odemwingie realises that if he does want to move on to a club challenging for silverware, that another season where he proves himself with us will not only benefit him but will also benefit us in terms of potential transfer fees. And as for Shane, we just have to hope he is definitely over his injuries troubles from last season, as a full season with him on form could bring some brilliant rewards for us.
