Clarke Looking To Push Albion On

Steve Clarke has laid out his hopes for the season and he knows the challenge is to reach 50 points and improve on our last few seasons.

Speaking to wba.co.uk Clarke said results would dictate his spell at the club, but his immediate focus would be on trying to better our finish last campaign.

'The challenge is there, both seasons have brought 47 points so I'll be looking to get higher than that. I'm putting myself under more pressure than anybody else - I want to push beyond the 50 point mark. Is that improvement? The club has to judge the level of success, at the end of the season the club will say you were really successful and give you a new contract, or not, and you're out the door. It's a big target to achieve and time will tell.'

With a mix of reactions to the appointment, most Albion fans I suspect would be happy with some consolidation in Clarke's first season. A strong midtable finish with the changes he will introduce would by most be considered a decent first season in the hotseat, but we certainly shouldn't be judging him on bettering Roy Hodgson in his first season.
