Regis Sees Sense In Clarke Appointment

Albion legend Cyrille Regis has said he can more than see the sense in the appointment of Steve Clarke, and he believes the move will be a masterstroke by the Albion board.

Speaking to the Birmingham Mail the man who bagged 112 goals during his time at the club said of the appointment.

'I can understand why people are surprised but there's a logic to it. Steve Clarke has built himself a brilliant reputation as a coach and worked at the very top. The way the club is split will suit him, he will need that synergy with Dan Ashworth to make it work and from that point of view you can understand why they went for him. And people like Jose Mourinho certainly don't endorse people easily.

I would guess everybody hopes Cyrille is right, going to be an interesting start to pre season.
