Going Green & No Pavone?

Now Steve Clarke has been appointed, the transfer speculation is starting to return with a vengeance.

It's being reported by a few outlet's that Clarke's first task as Albion manager will be to scout out the soon to be free agent Robert Green.

Ben Foster is still being linked with a move to QPR, but that's not as cut and dry as people would think as the press also have Mark Hughes offering £3m for Villa's Shay Given.

Foster has to remain our main option I would suspect, but Green would be a sensible alternative should it not work out, especially financially as he's confirmed he will be moving on from West Ham when his contract expires.

The press suggest that his wage demands of £45k a week could be a stumbling point in our pursuit of the 32 year old England international.

Sky Sports also suggest that we will now miss out on Argentine international Mariano Pavone who has received a very pleasing offer from Mexican side Cruz Azul.

Dan Ashworth is believed to have travelled to South America to scout the player earlier in the summer, and again the 30 year old can move on a free which would obviously interest us. They say that despite being 'locked in talks,' a source close to the player says a very lucrative 3 year deal has now been offered which leaves Albion far behind in the pecking order.

'A deal was close, but the offer from Mexico is a very attractive one and one which is unlikely to be on offer in England.'
