'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Steve Clarke Appointed - Official

After weeks of speculation, rumours and media twaddle, Albion have now officially announced Steve Clarke as our new head coach.

The 48 year old Scot signs on with a two year deal, and has a wealth of coaching experiencing from his time in the game with Chelsea, Newcastle, West Ham, and most recently Liverpool.

It's his first real lead role in football, but as our job isn't a strict 'manager' set up, his experience to fill the role of head coach should be more than enough for him to build on what Roy Hodgson started.

Speaking to wba.co.uk as the announcement was made, Sporting and Technical Director Dan Ashworth said.

'I'm delighted to welcome Steve to the club, we firmly believe we have appointed the right man to keep the club moving forward. We cast the net far and wide to identify the most suitable candidate, from the outset we decided to pursue candidates who are renowned for their coaching ability, and Steve was very much at the forefront of our thoughts. After holding talks with Steve, he emerged as the outstanding candidate.'
