'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Long To Get One Over On International Colleagues

Shane Long has said he is looking forward to getting one over on the Irish lads in Villa's side.

Speaking to wba.co.uk as Albion look to do the double over Villa and make life far worse for our local neighbours, the striker said.

'I have a lot of friends at Villa who are in the Irish squad, I don't want bad things to happen to them and I think it will be good for Irish football if the likes of Dunney, Clark, Ireland and Given stay in the Premier Leagie. They have the quality to stay up and it's about doing it on the pitch. That's why we know it's going to be a good game tomorrow because their fighting for the lives.'

Long was also adamant that Albion still had plenty to fight for this season, as we showed against Liverpool, and this derby will be no different to any other as we aim to finish as high as we can and take the local bragging rights once again.

Albion simply need to draw tomorrow to finish above Villa in the table and we know the squad are taking that seriously, and with the records we've broken this season already I fail to see why the 33 years since we last finished above them can't be consigned to history.

'It will be nice to finish above them this year and get West Brom on the map. Our aim was always top ten, we know it means a lot to the fans. It will be nice for the fans to have those bragging rights after what has been a good season.'
