'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Hodgson Wants To Keep Cox

Roy Hodgson has admitted he would like to see the club take up the 12 month option on striker Simon Cox but he appreciates the player wants to be on the pitch.

Speaking to the Birmingham Mail in response to Cox saying he would have to look at his options in the summer, the head coach said.

'Nothing has changed regarding Simon, I have great respect. He's a good player but whether we can persuade him to stay with us is something only Simon can answer. I'm sure the club will be anxious to keep him but only time will tell and we will live with whatever the outcome is. Would I keep him? Yes I would!'

It's a shame the European Championships are on our doorstep really, as Cox has a very good eye on making the Republic squad and that will be driving him. Without that there, maybe the issue wouldn't be as burning for him and a loan spell would work for all parties.
