'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Roy's Response: Gritty Display Rewarded

Roy Hodgson has praised the players for their grit and determination to get a result out of today's game against QPR.

Speaking to wba.co.uk Hodgson said he already feels that we are safe from the relegation battle going on, but he was delighted to see us battle to another 3 points.

'We've been under the impression that, from the end of March and going into April, to some extent we needed to fall over the line. It's been a long hard season and we've lost a lot of quality players along the way, but we've not only got over the line, we've got over the line with a degree of margin or comfort. I'm delighted with the players and I'm delighted that, in a game where we could have been forgiven for not putting in the real effort, we did all we could because we're safe and they're not. That speaks volumes for the players.'

Hodgson also reserved praise for match winner Graham Dorrans' overall performance today.

'It was a marvellous strike and he deserves a lot of credit. It's been a fine week for him, he settled the game for us today.'
