Shane Long Hoping For Everton Start

Shane Long is hoping that his 52nd minute goal in the loss to Newcastle will be enough to secure him a place in the starting line up against Everton.

Speaking to wba.co.uk after the game, Shane Long said.

'I'm going to train hard this week and try to get into the team for the next game, but it's going to be hard with Peter and Marco pushing me. It's frustrating but I've got to bide my time. Just when I got back to fitness, the lads couldn't stop winning games and scoring goals.'

Long adds about the Newcastle game that he doesn't think the team actually did much wrong in the 90 minutes, we were just punished because Newcastle took their chances well.

'We didn't do too much wrong in the first half, although we never really got going. They had three chances and put them away well. They punished us with three good finishes. We were disappointed and we know we can play better, we know we need to be better at Everton. We need to keep our standards high.'
