Cox Hoping On Euro Dream

Simon Cox is hoping that he has done enough to impress Giovanni Trapattoni this season given his difficulty in getting on the pitch for Albion recently.

Speaking to the herald.ie the Republic of Ireland international said he was finding it difficult being a spectator in our recent games but he knows that competition upfront is fierce, so he has to rely on impressing earlier in the season if he hopes to play a part in the European Championships.

'I hope I have done enough to get in the squad. Some of the lads are playing week in, week out for their clubs and that's not the case with me. I have to rely on what I have done before to strengthen my case for making the squad.'

As for the difficulty he has in getting on the pitch for Albion, Cox explains with the form of other forwards and the changing formations means he can't grumble much but it is frustrating.

'Games are hard to come by for me at the moment, our formation has changed so that changes the whole dynamic for a player like me. The form of Peter Odemwingie and Marc-Antoine Fortune at the moment is very good, especially Fortune. He has taken his chance and done really well, not just with his goals but his performances overall, so it's hard for me and Shane to even get on the pitch at the minute. The team are doing well, so I can't go banging on the manager's door and demanding to be in the side.'
