Paul Scharner has said the Baggies should be aiming for a top ten finish this season, and he also explained the reason for his muted celebration against Wigan.
Speaking to wba.co.uk on the start of a bright new week, our weekend's point winner said.
'We have the potential and the quality in the squad to look at the top half and hopefully we will get back to winning and playing our football in the next few games. I hope we can now return to the performances we put in against Sunderland and Chelsea. I think we can really compete and finish in the top half of the table, we have to look forward.'
If anybody really needed an explanation as to why Scharner was so respectful when he scored against Wigan, he's provided one.
'There is still a piece of my heart in Wigan and that's why I had to be respectful. It was strange, of course, especially in front of the Baggies supporters. It gives you a great feeling, but I had to show a little bit of respect for the Wigan fans.'
A lovely touch that not enough Premiership players seem to abide by thesedays sadly.
