Gera Reaping Rewards Of Sensible Approach

Zoltan Gera has revealed that he turned down a 'quick fix' operation so he could continue to play for Albion for longer.

Speaking to wba.co.uk the 32 year old said he choose the routine patella tendon graft operation which originally ruled him out for the rest of the season over a Lars Ligament operation which reduces the recovery time to 3 months, but carries a high failure rate.

Taking the sensible approach and taking things slower has certainly paid off for the player who is well ahead of schedule in his recovery and there is now a chance he will return before the end of the season.

'I'm so happy with the operation, the surgeon did a terrific job. I wanted a proper operation so I can play as long as I can.'

As long as there are no further complications it's likely Gera will start jogging in the next fortnight and all being well he could return to action before the close of the campaign, but he knows he can't rush things.

'I hope I can play at the end of the season, but there is no guarantee. Obviously, there is no need to rush and I will play when fit. Hopefully I can, but if not, that's okay.'

Certainly no need to risk a breakdown for the sake of a few minutes this season when he can be fit and raring to go next season.
