Gera Could Be Back Before The End Of The Season

Zoltan Gera could make a return to the first team before the end of the season as his recovery is well ahead of schedule.

Speaking to wba.co.uk Roy Hodgson explained that despite Gera being ruled out for the whole season with an anterior cruciate ligament rupture, his determination to return means he is ahead of schedule in his recovery.

'He is determined to be back before the end of the season and he keeps telling me 'it won't be long now'. Obviously the doctors will be a bit more cautious but it's very nice when you've got such enthusiastic players.'

With players on the long term injury list recovering well, Hodgson knows he'll have a headache come next season.

'When we go into next season (Brunt and Gera) we will have two fantastic new signings going into it. With Long and Odemwingie firing on all cylinders by that time we will have plenty of quality additions, and it wouldn't take too much then to make the additions we need to get ourselves into the position of where Fulham and perhaps Stoke are today.'
