Shane has said that he was angry when he realised he'd be out for so long after making such a good start to his Albion career, but he certainly enjoyed his return at the weekend.
Speaking to wba.co.uk Long talked about his disappointment after being forced to have his spell out injured.
'I was angry that I knew I was going to be out for a while, but I kept my head - although the medical staff had to put up with a few rants and raves - all I wanted to do was get back out on the pitch again and play football.'
After having a shorter recovery period than expected and taking part in training towards the tail end of last week, it was a surprise to see Long start the game and play for the whole 90 minutes, but he's had no reaction to that and he can see only the benefits of having come back with a scoring return.
'I got through the game no problems. I felt like I was on form when I got the knock and I wanted to hit the ground running again. To score the goal was massive for me, it makes it ten times better when it turns out to be the winner and we've got three points out of the game.'
Long ended the interview by explaining the knock that he had, he says it's not as bad as it looked, it was just a slight twist that took a bit of running to clear up.
It's certainly not something that gives rise immediately to another missed game.
