'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Roy's Response: We Missed Forwards

Roy Hodgson believes we missed Peter Odemwingie and Shane Long against Arsenal, and that was a big loss for us in what was already going to be a difficult game.

Speaking to wba.co.uk following the 3-0 loss, Hodgson didn't blame the options at his disposal, but he believes the different threat posed by the missing strikers could've made a telling difference to our chances.

'There is no doubt that Shane and Peter would have caused Arsenal more problems because they're different types of players. We've got injuries and a lot of changes in the team, it was interesting for me today to see how players would cope.'

It's clear Hodgson is taking the positives from the game as he talks about Gera getting a run out, Simon Cox being given a chance because of his effort in training and of course, another cameo for George Thorne.
