'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Scharner Pulls No Punches

Paul Scharner has praised Luis Suarez for being very good at winning penalties.

Speaking to the Birmingham Post Scharner said.

'It was a nice dive for the penalty and that got Liverpool well started for the game. He's very good at winning penalties, he's one of the best on the planet, in fact. If that's a penalty, then you will find 1500 are given every match.'

A 90 minute penalty shoot out. Would certainly be different.

From Football365, winners and losers article " West Brom's complaints about his alleged antics to win a penalty that he didn't seek let alone appeal for were entirely bogus, but the mud has already begun to stick. Last week, Suarez was denied a clearish penalty against Norwich and the way Lee Mason turned away from Saturday's incident, leaving the decision to an unusually-brave linesman, may also have been an example of an official refereeing by what he's read in the papers." and Mediawatch, " Now, Mediawatch finds both diving and Luis Suarez's antics pretty unpleasant, but this is getting silly now. The usually sensible Roy Hodgson, plus two of his players - Paul Scharner and Billy Jones - queued up to subtley hint/not-so-subtley hint/clearly state Suarez dived to win Liverpool's penalty against West Brom. "It was a nice dive for the penalty and that got Liverpool well started for the game," said Scharner. Now, we've seen a few divers in our time, and if there's one thing that is consistent with all of them, it's that they appeal for the thing they've tried to trick the referee into giving. If you watch the incident again, you'll note that Suarez does nothing of the sort. Hope that clears things up." Couldn't have said it better myself.
