Roy Hodgson was absolutely delighted to see the Baggies end our 32 year hoodoo at Villa Park today, and boy did we do it in style!
Speaking to wba.co.uk Hodgson said he was hopeful - although he's not holding his breath - that the already much debated red card does not take the headlines off what was a sparkling performance from the boys and a very convincing win.
Back to back derby victories - job done!
'I'm very pleased with the result and very pleased with the performance, but very disappointed about Shane's injury. I'm still angered by the challenge. Before anyone starts talking about red cards, be very careful, because if ever I've seen a challenge that merited a red card, it was Hutton's on Long.'
Hodgson does know the performance will be unfortunately overshadowed and said.
'Tomorrow, our performance, passing and movement will be largely ignored because everyone will be discussing whether Herd should or should not have been sent off. I just want to make it absolutely clear from my point of view that I don't care about that.'
So focusing on what he does care about.
'I thought we played very well. We were creating lots of opportunities and looking very dangerous up front. We'd already tested Given on a couple of occasions and when they went down to ten men, I thought we controlled the game.'
Night all, I'm off to toast the boys.
