Hodgson Delighted With Scharner's Attitude

After being dropped for a number of games, Roy Hodgson has been delighted with how Paul Scharner reacted.

Speaking to wba.co.uk the gaffer said that the midfielder had responded very well to being left out of the squad, and he thinks the added competition will help Scharner reach his best form more often.

'He's in a situation where for many games his position has been unchallenged and he will have to accept that this year it won't be like that. He does, and he has reacted in the right way. He has been determined to show me on the training field, and by his footballing actions, that I should still be counting on him.'

Hodgson adds that because of his determination on the pitch, the Wolves encounter was the perfect game to bring him back for - and Scharner proved that.

'He gave us in our play what we wanted from him.'
