Roy Hopes Derby Goal Will Kick Start Pete's Season

Roy Hodgson is hopeful that Peter Odemwingie's season will now kick start itself after he found the net in todays Black Country derby.

Speaking to wba.co.uk Hodgson explained why he started the striker from the bench but his impact proved the decision right.

'I think that goal will lift Peter. It was a very good goal and I thought he played extremely well when he came on. The goal will be good for Peter.'

Hodgson added.

'To be frank, I'd been preparing with Tchoyi for this game. I didn't think I would have Peter available. Suddenly on Friday, he became available and it sent me home thinking 'am I doing the right thing? Somen did so well up there it did turn out to be the right thing. With 20 minutes to go, it gave me the chance to get Peter on there and cause them even further problems.'

Hodgson ended the post match comments by admitting that he was both loving and hating the selection dilemmas he now faces given the quality at the club and he knows such issues will exist all season long now.
